Abstract Variants of topographical anatomy involving gluteal region are linked to developmental derangements or delays in signaling elements. The present study aimed to report a novel unilateral trifurcation of the gluteus minimus muscle that was accompanied by the higher division of the sciatic nerve observed on embalmed adult male cadaver and to discuss its clinical and embryological perspectives. Awareness on the existence of gluteal anatomical variants is critical for routine procedure planning on gluteal region.
