The effect of Gamma irradiation on the mechanical properties of Lead/SBR-NBR rubber blend

20234 citationsOpen accessBritish University in Egypt

Abstract

Lead/SBR-NBR Rubber Blend with 0-100 phr lead concentrations are prepared using a standard rubber mixer. The influence of gamma irradiation on the mechanical characteristics of the prepared samples, such as tensile strength, elongation at break, and hardness, was investigated. The findings revealed that using lead oxide as a reinforcement filler increases the mechanical qualities of aging resistance to gamma-irradiation, with a degradation process of rubber chains taking precedence over cross-linking at greater concentrations.
