Terahertz Metamaterials Patch Antenna for High-Resolution Biomedical and IoT Applications

Abstract

This paper presents an innovative design of a terahertz (THz) patch antenna using MTM tailored for high-resolution biomedical imaging applications. The proposed antenna operates in the THz frequency range, leveraging its high spatial resolution and penetration capabilities for enhanced imaging quality. Designed with SiO2 substrate, the antenna resonates at 4.39 THz. By integrating metamaterials (MTM) elements into the design, significant performance improvements are achieved, including enhanced gain from 2.73 dB to 3.73 dB, directivity 3.70 dB to 4.71 dB, and impedance matching. Simulation results demonstrate the antenna's potential to provide superior imaging resolution and efficient operation, making it a promising candidate for advanced biomedical diagnostic tools.
