Table 1: Ethical Principles for the Intersectional study of Race and Ethnicity in Medicine

Abstract

From the lessons learnt from our HREC (Human Research Ethics Committee) deliberation process, we have developed the Ethical Principles for Intersectional study of Race and Ethnicity in Medicine (Table 1). These ethical principles highlight the need for a: 1) clear assessment<b> </b>of the research question and research team with early consultations with appropriate HREC teams; 2) balanced methodological approach to reduce researcher bias; and 3) clear communication<b> </b>strategies for data collection, analysis, and dissemination of research findings in the HREC approval processes.
