Geophysical and remote sensing investigations were conducted to assess groundwater and mineralisation potential in Hong and its surroundings. High-resolution aeromagnetic data were separated into regional and residual components and processed via analytic signal methods to map subsurface structural lineaments. In addition, satellite imagery was analysed to extract surface fractures. Combined data sets revealed lineament orientations trending north-east to south-west, north-west to south-east, north to south, and east to west, with combined lineament densities ranging from 0.79 to 7.14 and interconnected lineament densities between 0.22 and 2.93. The total magnetic intensity varied across the study area between 18.018 and 237.255 nanoteslas. Structural analysis indicates that zones with high densities of interconnected fractures and lineaments correspond to prospective sites for groundwater accumulation and mineralisation, providing baseline geophysical guidance for future resource exploration and extraction programmes in the region.
Mapping subsurface fractures helps pinpoint where underground water and valuable minerals are likely to gather. By combining satellite images with magnetic survey data, researchers can identify high-density fracture networks beneath the ground. This geophysical mapping provides valuable preliminary guidance for planning local water supply development and mineral extraction activities in areas requiring targeted resource exploration.
The work can assist exploration geologists, water resource planners, and mining operators in identifying target locations for borehole drilling and mineral prospecting. Because the study relies on regional aeromagnetic and satellite mapping without direct borehole verification or reserve quantification, it represents early-stage exploration research that requires follow-up ground testing and drilling before commercial extraction can proceed.

The high resolution aeromagnetic data of the area was processed using Regional Residual Separation to obtain the Residual data, which was subjected to Analytic Signal to obtain Lineaments of Hong using Oasis montaj software. The Satellite Imagery data was processed using ArcGIS Software, which was used to extract the Lineaments. The results revealed that Total Magnetic Intensity Map varies from 18.018 to 237.255 nT, the Regional Magnetic Intensity Map ranges from 71.640 to 226.931 nT, the Residual Magnetic Intensity Map from -119.541 to 85.345 nT and the Analytic Signal from Map 0.009 to 0.156 nT. The density of Lineaments from the combine Lineaments of Aeromagnetic data and Satellite Imagery data and their resultant interconnected Lineaments revealed densities from 0.79 to 7.14 and 0.22 to 2.93 respectively. Lineaments and anomalies orientation varies from NE-SW, NW-SE, N-S and E-W. The findings indicate that the area have potentials for Mineralization/Groundwater. The result gives an insight on the Mineralization/Groundwater potential of the area and also serves as a guide for future exploration/exploitation of the Minerals/Groundwater in the area. In the light of Aeromagnetic data and Satellite Imagery data, all areas of intense fractures (Lineaments) are considered as potential areas for Mineralization/Groundwater accumulation.
