Studying the influence of adding some organic acids to the ore of Abu-Tartur Phosphate

Abstract

The current study examined the solubility of ore in several organic acids, such as acetic and citric acid. In order to improve the ores solubility and produce a marketable phosphate ore with the required (P2O5), abu- Tarture phosphate ore was treated using organic acids leaching (citric, acetic, and mixture of both [1 citric: 4 acetic] to separate the calcareous gangue materials (mainly calcite)). Which is the treatment for "The current procedure is successful in eliminating 134.74% of SO3, 65.28% of MgO, and 92.96% of silica. There was a 10.2% increase in P2O5 concentration. For this investigation, treating the ore with a solution of citric and acetic acid was thought to be the best option. The P2O5 percentage increased considerably (36%), according to EDAX data. These findings were fairly consistent with those from atomic absorption spectrophotometer. SEM pictures taken both before and after the procedure revealed a notable difference. There was a rise in the amount of spherical P2O5 particle aggregates.
