In this work a biochar is prepared from waste of used rubber tire and then is exploited as a low cost adsorbent for removing Copper into aqueous media. The benefit is to separate pollutant from wastewater and also to reduce the impact of rubber tire waste on environment issue. The experimental study show that the adsorption of Copper was very quick and reached equilibrium in less than 60 minutes of contact with high removal efficiency of 100 %, demonstrating that waste tires biochar could be used as a promising adsorbent for cationic metal. The maximum adsorption capacity is <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$qe=5.98mg/g$</tex>. Finally, the results of these studies suggest that biochar can be a sustainable and cost effective solution for the removal of copper from wastewater.
