This study assesses the abundance and population dynamics of Kobus kob kob in the Nazinga Classified Forest and Game Ranch. The analysis was based on a quadrat-based foot survey and line transect monitoring data collected between 2006 and 2023. The results reveal strong interannual variability in densities, fluctuating between 0.64 ind./km² in 2006 and 0.03 ind./km² in 2023, reflecting a significant downward trend (Mann-Kendall, Spearman, and Kendall tests, p < 0.01). The population is currently estimated at an average of 42 individuals (95% CI, 33-50), concentrated within 16% of the ranch's total area. The demographic structure is dominated by adults (75%), with low juvenile recruitment (8%). Morisita's index (Ip ≈ 0.03) indicates a near random distribution, reflecting a small and poorly aggregated population. Overall, the population trends indicate a mean annual regression rate of -3.31% over the 2006-2024 period, despite a sporadic recovery between 2019 and 2024. These findings highlight the vulnerability of the population and underscore the need for strengthening management measures to prevent local extinction.
