Strategies for Addressing Challenges in Teaching Artificial Intelligence Concepts to AEC Students

Abstract

The extensive incorporation of AI into construction processes has created a demand for AEC students, as future construction professionals, to be educated on AI concepts. Although challenges will impact the teaching of AI concepts to these students, the ways to address these challenges remain unidentified. This chapter examined the difficulties of instructing AI concepts to AEC students, their learning methodologies, and their skill proficiency. This chapter examined the efficacy of new pedagogical approaches, including interactive hands-on activities, gamification techniques, experiential learning, and self-directed AI learning, in overcoming problems associated with teaching AI concepts. The chapter concluded by emphasizing the significance of integrating the methods into teaching practices.
