Review of: "Analyzing Policy to Address Infant Mortality in High-Risk Populations"

Abstract

Potential competing interests: i have no potential competing interests to declare.This is an interesting article to read, particularly for those of us in developing countries.It is noteworthy that the USA ranks 33/36 among the OECD nations.It would have been informative for the author(s) to have stated the countries that have worse indices.While the author(s) focused a lot on racial and rural health disparities as major contributors to the very high infant mortality rates in the USA, the article also states 60% of the states have figures higher than 5/1000, which is the target, and only 2 states have figures less than 3.9/1000, which is the OECD nations' target.This will seem to imply that the contributory factors to the high infant mortality rate are probably more diverse.While the recommendations are appropriate, they might not totally achieve the desired goal; however, they would be a step in the right direction.
