Reply: Continental developments in African cardiothoracic surgery

2024Open accessUniversity of Ibadan

Abstract

We read the letter to the Editor by Allam and colleagues1 with great interest and we thank the authors for highlighting Egypt's contributions to the field of cardiothoracic surgery. Indeed, Egypt is the origin country for many ancient medical advances, and, as Allam and colleagues1 point out, the most important advances in African cardiothoracic surgery took place in Egypt during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
