Reinventing AI Education

Abstract

This chapter examines the integration of project-based learning (PBL) and active approaches in artificial intelligence (AI) education, and highlights the benefits of these methods for developing practical and theoretical skills. Unlike traditional methods, PPA encourages student-centered learning by promoting engagement, creativity, and autonomy in real-world, collaborative projects. The chapter also explores the challenges associated with the adoption of these methods, such as institutional resistance, resource management, and pedagogical tools. Solutions such as teacher training, the use of technological tools, and partnerships with industry are proposed to facilitate this transition. Finally, the chapter discusses the future prospects for AI education, highlighting the importance of pedagogical innovations such as virtual reality, adaptive learning, and virtual labs. Collaboration between academia and industry is identified as a key strategy to provide students with immersive training in line with market needs. In conclusion, PPA and active methods are presented as essential tools for training competent and ethical AI professionals, adapted to contemporary technological and social challenges.
