Radiographic diagnosis of jaw lesions associated with impacted tooth: a case series

Abstract

Impacted tooth is a tooth that was prevented from erupting into the correct position. It can be associated with different cystic and tumor lesion presented at radiography as many imaging form. The patients included in this study, are those with at least one impacted tooth associated with jaw lesion, without any systemic diseases or syndrome. These patients had consulted in oral surgery service at the dental consultation and treatment center of the University Hospital Ibn Sina in the city of Rabat in Morocco, during our practice. Clinical examination was done including history, oral and radiographic examination. The most common pathologic findings among our patients were dentigerous cysts, followed by odontomas, unicystic ameloblastomas, and keratocystic odontogenic tumors. The radiographic characteristics founded in our study have many similarities with studies in literature. Impacted teeth can be associated with many cystic lesions or tumoral ones.
