Polarization Diversity via Nano-Crescent Antenna Fed with Coupled-Strips Plasmonic Line

Abstract

A nanocresent antenna fed with coupled-strips plasmonic transmission line is presented. Via switching between the odd and even mode of the feeding line, the proposed nantenna is capable of switching purely the polarization of its broadside radiation at 193 THz (1550 nm) between two orthogonal linear polarizations. This is accompanied by high radiation efficiency. Rigorous electromagnetic based optimization is performed to satisfy all the design requirements with high accuracy.
