Phytochemicals and antibacterial activity of Khaya senegalensis leaves extract using different solvent

Abstract

The phytochemical content as a major source of new antibiotics due to the presence of phytochemicals. The goals of research to evaluate the phytochemical and antibacterial activity of Khaya senegalensis leaves extracts. Against different solvents and were subjected to phytochemical and antibacterial test. The methanol extracts of all the plants extracts Saponins is present only but its absent in the K. senegalinesis of the methanol extract. Also, alkaloids are presents in all extract of crude methanol. Steroids are found in the K. senegalinesis. Therefore, on the ground of the pronounced activity of the extracts against the test bacteria alkaloids, flavonoids and saponins was found to be 11.80±0.02 followed by flavonoids of ethyl acetate extracts with the value of 10.33±0.02, then saponins was also found in n-Hexane extracts with the value of 9.6±0.02 the least is found in methanol 1.77±0.01 respectively. it could be suggested that this plant has a potential as a source of therapeutic agents. The crude extracts showed various zones of inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus, Baccilus subtilis, with different concentration, MIC was indicated with no turbidity. It is therefore, suggested that further studies be carried out using different solvents as well as to isolate, identify the active compounds present in the extracts with a view to justifying these claims.
