Abstract

Phishing continues to stand out as one of the foremost obstacles confronting online users, with a substantial number falling victim to it. Researchers are actively seeking solutions to combat this serious cyber threat, given its increasing complexity and prevalence. Phishing attacks have evolved, becoming more sophisticated and drawing greater focus from cybersecurity experts striving to identify and alleviate their consequences. Attackers employ fraudulent attempts to deceive end users and acquire their personal information. This study delves into various forms of deceptive tactics and discusses detection techniques to recognize and combat them. The objectives encompass describing the diverse forms of phishing attacks, elucidating how attackers exploit or allure users, and presenting various detection strategies to thwart phishing attempts. The primary aims of this paper include raising awareness about phishing tactics, educating individuals on these attacks, promoting preventative measures against phishing, and fostering dialogue within the professional community. Utilizing a systematic approach, this study reviews pertinent articles, recent academic reviews, and cutting-edge publications on phishing attacks and detection techniques.
