Phase Loss Detection for Three Phase AC Drives Based on Second Order Generalized Integrator

Abstract

In this work we present an effective approach that aims to diagnosis phase loss failures affecting three phase AC drives. The proposed approach uses Second Order Generalized Integrator (SOGI) to generate three robust fault indicators to insure effective diagnosis of the faulty phase. The detection time is equal to one cycle period of the motor stator current. Experimental results are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed fault diagnosis method.
