Performance of Quadrature Spatial Modulation-Multiple Input Multiple Output System Over Indoor Power Line Communication System

Abstract

Indoor power Line communication system has been identified as one of the backbones of industrial 4.0 revolution. The PLC network is however faced with the challenge of impulsive noise which normally poses huge danger to data over the PLC network. In this paper Quadrature Spatial Modulation-Multiple Input Multiple Output System Over Indoor Power Line Communication (QSM-MIMO-OFDM) technique employing 4-QAM and 16-QAM modulation level is proposed to mitigate the effects of impulsive noise on information in PLC system. The performance of the scheme was evaluated by computer simulation through bit error rate with the injection of various magnitude of impulsive noise. The scheme demonstrated strong resilience against impulsive noise of various magnitude by achieving good error rate in the presence of impulsive noise and performed better than the existing MIMO-OFDM scheme in in-home PLC communication system.
