Optimized Design and Performance Evaluation of a High-Gain 4x4 Array Patch Rectenna for 5G Networks

Abstract

The swift evolution of 5G technology has underscored the critical demand for an efficient antenna system that meets the escalating requirements for rapid data transmission and enhanced network performance. This study introduces a novel compact 4x4 high-gain array antenna employing coaxial probe feeds composed of 16 identical patch antennas operational within the 27.5 GHz to 29 GHz frequency range aligned with the n257 band. Noteworthy attributes of this antenna system include a peak gain of 18.2 dBi, a bandwidth of 2.54 GHz, and an exceptional radiation efficiency of 99.45%. The antenna demonstrates significant performance capabilities through high-frequency structure simulator (HFSS) simulations, positioning it as a promising candidate for 5 G deployments within the n257 band.
