Optimization and Management of Residential Energy Systems: Forecasting Methods, Energy Efficiency Models, and Renewable Integration

Abstract

Residential energy management systems are crucial for optimizing energy consumption, reducing costs, and improving grid stability. Various optimization techniques have been proposed, including mixed integer linear programming and model predictive control. This paper, present literature on optimization and management of residential energy systems focusing on forecasting methods, energy efficiency models, and renewable integration. A systematic literature review on electrical loads in residential buildings was conducted using Scopus, yielding 31 relevant papers after filtering. VOSviewer analysis identified 37 keywords, organized into clusters to highlight research trends and gaps for further investigation. The literature results highlight innovative approaches and technologies for optimizing energy management in residential buildings. A noticeable aspect is the emphasis on using data-driven methods and advanced optimization techniques to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of energy systems. Future research possible areas to be explored are recommended in this paper.
