Nutritional, behavioral and anthropometric factors associated with colorectal cancer in Nouakchott, Mauritania: a case–control study

Abstract

This dataset contains anonymized data from a case–control study conducted in Nouakchott, Mauritania, between January and April 2026. The study aimed to identify nutritional, behavioral and anthropometric factors associated with colorectal cancer among adults living in Nouakchott. The dataset includes 50 confirmed colorectal cancer cases and 100 controls with no personal history of cancer. Data were collected using a standardized questionnaire covering sociodemographic characteristics, dietary habits, behavioral factors and anthropometric measurements. The deposited package includes:1. an anonymized Excel dataset;2. a data dictionary;3. a README file. Direct identifiers were removed before deposition. The original participant identification number was replaced by an anonymized study identifier. Fine geographic information was removed to reduce the risk of re-identification. The dataset is intended to support transparency, reproducibility and secondary analysis in accordance with ethical and scientific standards.
