Mngazana field campaign took place from 15/09/2023 to 19/09/2023 at -31.693969°; 29.417545° Modern diatom and foraminifera samples were collected at 5cm elevation intervals within a mixed salt marsh and mangrove environment capturing the environmental gradient from upland vegetation to mudflat. Elevation of modern diatom and foraminifera samples was measured using a dumpie level and staff. Time still water readings with date and time were related to East London (South Africa) tidal predictions supplied by the South African Naval Hydrographic Office. Tidal datums can be found at: South Africa Tide Tables (2025). Private Bag X1, Tokai, 7966, South Africa: South African Navy. Diatom and foraminifera data appear as absolute counts.
