Purpose: the aim of the current study was to compare the difference of retinal macular thickness and macular volume using optical coherence tomography (OCT). Methods: This was a prospective observational comparative study held in Mansoura university ophthalmic center on a sample size of 100 eyes that were undergoing O.C.T macula. Eyes were divided into 2 groups; group A which include glaucoma group which were divided into (early, advanced) (50 eyes) and Control group (group B) of normal subjects (50eyes) .Results: Macular thicknesses had significant decreased in fovea, Inner (Superior, inferior, nasal, temporal) and Outer (Superior, inferior, nasal, temporal) quadrants in the glaucoma patients compared to the controls. Macular thicknesses had significant decreased in fovea, Inner (Superior, inferior, nasal, temporal) and Outer (Superior, inferior, nasal, temporal) quadrants in the glaucoma patients compared to the controls. RNFL thicknesses had significant decreased in Inferior, superior, nasal, temporal quadrants in the glaucoma patients compared to the controls. Conclusion: Our data showed a significant difference in macular volume and thickness between normal, compared to glaucomatous eyes, so they could be used as reliable indicators to differentiate between cases and the normal subjects.
