Low Inguinal Microsurgical Varicocele ligation versus Conventional Inguinal approach: Prospective Comparison of Reproductive and Functional Outcomes

Abstract

Objectives: to evaluate the effectiveness and complications rates after microsurgical varicocele ligation in comparison to conventional inguinal approach. Methods: This study was a clinical randomized trial done in Menoufia Urology Department including eighty-three patients with varicocele from December 2018 to December 2020. Patients with clinical varicoceles and affected semen parameters were randomized to either conventional or microsurgical inguinal varicocelectomy. Intraoperative and post-operative complications were documented including hydrocele formation, varicocele recurrence, and testicular atrophy. Semen analysis was repeated after 3 months from date of surgery and compared to the pre-operative one. Results: Semen parameters improved significantly after varicocelectomy in both groups (p
