Linking green organisational practices to sustainability performance within the context of Somaliland

Abstract

This study explores the relationships among organizational agility (OA), green human resource management (GHRM) practices, green organizational culture (GOC), and sustainability performance (SP). The data were obtained from 310 companies in Somaliland and analysed through structural equation modelling with the help of SmartPLS software. OA and GHRM practices and OA and GOC were positively related, respectively. Furthermore, both GHRM and GOC were discovered to positively moderate the OA-SP relationship. The study also finds that Islamic work ethics (IWE) is a moderator that amplifies the relationship between GOC and SP and weakens the relationship between GHRM and SP. Implications: This study has important theoretical and practical implications in view of the importance of GHRM practices for managers and policymakers. Moreover, the study advances the resource-based view (RBV) theory by establishing OA, GHRM, and GOC as critical determinants of SP and organizational competitiveness. These insights highlight the value of incorporating agility, green practices, and ethical considerations into organizational strategies to enhance sustainability performance.
