Leveraging the Neurology Revolution to Enable Supermentia and Enhance Cognitive Evolution and Human Development

Abstract

ABSTRACT The level of human cognition has enabled advancements in technologies that enable planetary and space exploration with discoveries and innovations. The understanding of human cognition and the evolution of cognition in other species, alongside advances in neuroscience, serve as catalysts for the neurology revolution aimed at enhancing human cognition and intelligence. Advanced technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), have strategically posed a competitive challenge, urging humanity to continue innovating and harnessing resources for a sustainable planet. There is an urgent need to develop advanced cognitive skills to effectively interact with emerging sophisticated collective artificial and human intelligences. Moreover, humans must prioritize knowledge for the benefit of all and mitigate risks associated with AI governing the new planetary domain. Accordingly, this manuscript explores how the neurology revolution can be leveraged throughout the human lifespan to foster supermentia through cognitive evolution, thereby advancing human development. Stakeholders involved in managing neurological disorders must collaborate to pursue shared objectives, given the common risk factors and preventive strategies relevant across various neurological conditions. It is anticipated that this evolving environment will foster technological advancements, creating a cycle that results in superior computers functioning to complement the human brain. A notable example is the continual improvement of AI, which enhances technology by automatically rewriting source code, including rapid access memory and functionality upgrades. Therefore, it is essential to adopt a unifying, collaborative, and multisectoral approach to formulate pragmatic solutions that address cognitive risk factors, support innovative developments, and promote human cognition and intelligence through the advancement of neurotechnology, precision medicine, and other interventions.
