Abstract

Data science is transforming health research globally through the systematic generation, analysis, and use of large-scale datasets to improve clinical care, public health, and precision medicine 1 . These developments hold great promise for Africa, which bears a disproportionate share of the global disease burden yet contributes minimally to global research output, with persistent challenges, including political instability, threats of terrorism and systemic corruption 2 , 3 .
