The African Heart Rhythm Association was established in January 2020 at the end of Cardiorhythm 2020 in Nairobi, Kenya. There was recognition that cardiac rhythm management in Africa was poor and that only limited countries had sufficient expertise for the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders (electrophysiology and pacing).1 Therefore, the creation of a society affiliated with the Pan-African Society of Cardiology to promote awareness and education to healthcare professionals in Africa was essential.
