In the global pursuit of a sustainable and carbon-free future, hydrogen's green holds immense promise as a clean fuel for various industrial applications. Hydrogen's green produced through water electrolysis using energy from renewable sources poses a significant technological barrier. Its implementation will only be beneficial if several significant social and environmental issues are addressed such as cost and efficiency, energy source, electrolyser technology, storage and transportation, market demand and infrastructure, safety and regulations, and integration with existing systems. Collaboration among researchers, decision makers, and industry stakeholders is vital to address these hurdles of green hydrogen; also, integrating renewable energy sources into the energy, transportation, and manufacturing sectors through green hydrogen is one potential solution to address this issue. Green hydrogen has several applications in car fuel, industrial feedstock, and stabilizing unstable solar and wind energy production. This chapter presents an overview of the environmental and social difficulties associated with green hydrogen.
