With the rapid progression of IoT technology, an escalating array of devices necessitates interconnectivity and communication to facilitate data acquisition, surveillance, and control. Conventional wireless communication technologies exhibit intrinsic limitations in range, energy consumption, and cost. Consequently, a demand arises for a more suitable networking solution tailored to IoT applications, and the LoRa mesh network emerges as a preferable alternative. The LoRa mesh represents a wireless networking technology characterized by expansive coverage and low energy consumption. Various mesh network routing algorithms have been scrutinized to identify the most optimal ones concerning battery energy consumption, low latency, wide coverage, and fault tolerance, particularly for forest fire monitoring and detection applications. This article systematically investigates diverse routing algorithms to ascertain the most effective algorithm for deployment in a forest environment.
