Improving Emergency Care Efficiency through IoT-Driven Bed and Blood Booking Solutions

Abstract

In densely populated countries such as Morocco, long waiting lines are common across many services, especially in healthcare. Realtime monitoring of emergency ward bed occupancy and blood supply availability is often challenging due to limited infrastructure connectivity. This information gap leads to significant delays in assigning beds and providing blood during emergencies, such as accidents, which directly affects patient survival. To address these challenges, the Internet of Things (IoT) emerges as a promising technology that enables seamless communication between various devices. This work begins with a comprehensive literature review to assess the current state of research, followed by the proposal of a novel emergency management approach that utilizes IoT for simultaneous booking of beds and blood supplies. This approach aims to improve coordination among hospitals, blood banks, and patients.
