Metal corrosion poses a significant threat to environmental integrity and human safety, necessitating the exploration of alternatives to conventional corrosion inhibitors known for their adverse environmental and health impacts. In response to this imperative, natural plant extracts have emerged as promising candidates for eco-friendly corrosion inhibition. With their rich phytochemical composition and inherent affinity for metal surfaces, these extracts demonstrate considerable efficacy in preventing corrosion. Moreover, their potential incorporation into coating formulations offers enhanced protection against corrosion. This chapter aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the utilization of plant extracts as corrosion inhibitors, while also addressing the practical challenges hindering their widespread commercial adoption. By advocating for the integration of natural solutions and adherence to the principles of green chemistry, we aspire to develop corrosion control methodologies that align with ecological sustainability and human well-being.
