First record of Thraulus (Thraulus) bellus Eaton, 1881 outside Europe (Ephemeroptera, Leptophlebiidae, Choroterpinae)

Abstract

We present here the first record of Thraulus ( Thraulus ) bellus Eaton, 1881 outside Europe. Nymphal populations of this species were discovered in a reservoir in the Middle Atlas of Morocco. The genus had previously been reported from this country but without specific identification. Although the mtDNA COI of the Moroccan population presents a divergence of approximately 6% compared to European counterparts, no significant morphological differences were found.
