The Internet of Things (IoT) has changed how we interact with everyday objects by connecting them to the internet, making them smarter and more efficient. This paper focuses on how advanced hardware and software platforms contribute to developing IoT embedded systems. We examine several key platforms driving innovation in IoT, including Chisel, a versatile hardware description language, and LiteX, a groundbreaking infrastructure that simplifies SoC creation. Additionally, the Pulp platform offers low-power processors for diverse IoT needs, while Migen and MiSoC enable fast SoC customization using Python. SpinalHDL provides a modern approach to circuit design, and the NVIDIA Jetson series delivers high-performance embedded computers for advanced IoT applications. Through in-depth analysis, this paper explores the functionality, relevance, and impact of each platform in the IoT landscape. It highlights their unique features, strengths, and potential applications, assisting stakeholders in choosing the most suitable platform for their projects. This study not only sheds light on current IoT technology but also guides future developments in platform deployment and development.
