Abstract

Ex-situ conservation through botanic and zoological gardens plays a crucial role in mitigating the rapid decline of biodiversity worldwide, including in Cameroon, a biodiversity hotspot. This study investigates the governance and policy frameworks framing botanic and zoological gardens in Cameroon, specifically focusing on their role in conserving threatened flora and fauna species. The study employs a systematic review approach. Findings reveal that, Cameroon’s botanical and zoological gardens face significant challenges, including funding shortages, governance issues, and impacts from invasive species.
