EV Simulation Model Combining EMR Control and Simscape Multibody

Abstract

This paper proposes dynamic simulation model, of an electric vehicle (EV) powertrain using multibody approach. The electrical model is made of the permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM), controlled by a Voltage Source Inverter (VSI). The mechanical model including the EV's chassis, rear/front-axle, wheels and transmission, has been built in Solid-Works CAD software and converted to a Simscape/Multibody model. The PMSM and VSI control were organized using the Multiphysics approach, based on Energetic Macroscopic Representation (EMR), and implemented in Matlab/Simulink. The objective of this paper is to study the possibility of coupling the Matlab/Simulink EMR control layer, and an electromechanical model built under Simscape/Multibody. The evaluation of this architecture was performed by simulation, using the ECE-15 driving cycle.
