The automotive sector is moving towards alternative fuels to limit the adverse effects of climate change. Electric vehicles are the most competitive candidates due to their low price and non-emission of CO 2 . This chapter focuses on the brushless motor's storage technologies and control systems in an electric vehicle. More precisely, a global study on the different fuel cell technologies is examined from the proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) to the direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC). The second part also discusses the different types of batteries used in electric vehicles, generally made from lead acid, nickel, lithium metal, silver, and sodium-sulfur. In addition, an overview of the brushless DC (BLDC) motor and its corresponding mathematical modeling are presented to address the control part of the motor. This section defines the three popular control modes, proportional-integral (PI), proportional-integral-derivative (PID), and fuzzy logic control for a BLDC motor. These systems are simulated in Matlab, which clearly shows the effectiveness of the fuzzy logic controller compared to the other two models.
