book chapter
Fair energy scheduling in microgrids is a critical task in ensuring equitable access to energy resources among participants. This chapter introduces a framework for energy allocation using auction-based mechanisms - Vickrey and Dutch auctions - to distribute surplus energy among consumers with deficits. The methodology incorporates mathematical modeling of energy demand, supply, and auction mechanisms and is implemented in MATLAB. Simulated results for a 24-h scheduling period with 100 agents demonstrate the system's ability to balance fairness, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Insights derived from the simulations underline the potential of this approach in real-world microgrid applications. Moreover, an optimization problem has been formulated to ensure fair and efficient energy distribution while minimizing costs and satisfying energy demand constraints. The optimization-based framework to ensure fair energy distribution among consumers, minimal costs while satisfying physical and operational constraints and efficient energy utilization in multi-agent systems.
