Efficient Modeling of Magneto-Elastic Media Using the Feedback Preisach Model

Abstract

Magnetic materials demonstrating relatively high magnetostriction are currently being widely employed in various applications. Actuators, energy harvesting, and vibration damping are examples of such applications. Several magnetostriction models, which vary in quantitative accuracy, efficiency, and identification approaches, have been previously suggested. This article presents an efficient approach for modeling magneto-elastic media by employing a single scalar feedback Preisach-type model. The identification procedure of the proposed model and its experimental testing are presented. Testing and comparison results have demonstrated the overall good qualitative and quantitative accuracy of the proposed model. Details of the proposed approach, its implementation, and experimental testing are given in the article.
