Effect of public relations counseling management on domestic violence in Nigerian south-east

Abstract

The study investigates the effect of public relations counseling management on domestic violence in the Nigerian South-Eastern region. One research question and hypothesis are tested at 0.05 significance level. The study employs correlation survey design, using multi-stage sampling technique. A sample of 450 respondents from 603,588 married couples is analyzed with data collected using structured questionnaire. The instrument went through validation stages and reliability test with Cronbach Alpha gave a reliability coefficient of 0.80. Multiple regression analysis and Pearson product moment correlation tests analyze the hypothesis. The findings indicate a positive effect of public relations counseling management on domestic violence within couples in the South-Eastern Nigeria. The government and public relations professionals should ensure that counselors conduct seminars and workshops for families to bring peace and reciprocal understanding is maintained in homes. The government should enact more legislation public relations counseling management to decrease domestic violence. Educative talks on public relations counseling management to decrease domestic violence should be introduced in the education sector at all levels.
