Objectives: Evaluate and compare the effectiveness of nanosilver fluoride (NSF) and silver diamine fluoride (SDF) on the composite’s shear bond strength (SBS) to dentin caries-like lesion in primary molars.Materials and Method: 48 exfoliated or extracted primary molars had been ground to create a flattened dentin. Specimens were immersed in pH cycles for 2 weeks to produce dentin caries-like lesion. All specimens were randomly distributed into 3 groups, Group I:(n=16) NSF left for 2 minutes then washed with deionized water. Group II:(n=16) SDF to be soaked in for 60 seconds, excess removal then dried. Group III:(positive control group, n=16) no pretreatment was applied. All specimens were then etched, bonded and composite was applied. The shear bond strength was evaluated using universal testing machine. To assess mode of failure the deboned area was viewed under stereomicroscope. Comparison between groups regarding SBS was done using Kruskal Wallis test then Dunn’s post hoc test was used. The mode of failure was compared between groups using Person Chi Square. Results: Composite’s shear bond strength (SBS) to pretreated dentin with SDF was statistically greater than NSF(P=0.036). However, there was no difference between them regarding mode of failure both groups showed only mixed type mode of failure. Conclusions: Pretreatment of dentin caries-like lesion with 5%NSF and 38%SDF does not adversely affect the composite’s shear bond strength to dentin. Though compared to NSF , SDF showed better results.
