Effect of Nanobiofertilizer on Phytochemicals

Abstract

Nanobiofertilizers are fertilizers that incorporate nanotechnology and biological agents to enhance plant growth and increase crop yield. Research has shown that the use of nanobiofertilizers can also have a positive impact on the phytochemical content of crops. Phytochemicals are naturally occurring compounds in plants that have been shown to have health benefits. Phytochemicals are important for human health, as they have been linked to reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Studies have shown that the use of nanobiofertilizers can increase the concentration of phytochemicals in crops. Studies have shown that the application of nanobiofertilizers can increase the levels of phytochemicals such as flavonoids, phenolic acids, and carotenoids in plants. For example, one study found that the application of a nanobiofertilizer containing zinc oxide nanoparticles increased the levels of flavonoids, phenolic acids, and carotenoids in tomato plants. Another study found that the application of a nanobiofertilizer containing chitosan nanoparticles increased the levels of phenolic compounds in lettuce plants. Phytochemical production is increased by nanoparticles, which enhance nutrient uptake and stimulate plant metabolism. It is still unclear what mechanisms are responsible for this effect. Overall, the use of nanobiofertilizers has the potential to increase the phytochemical content of crops, which could have significant health benefits for consumers. In order to ensure the safety and sustainability of nanobiofertilizers, more research is needed to understand their effects on phytochemicals.
