Abstract

Infertility is a critical component of the reproductive health, it affects an estimated 15% of couples globally, amounting to 48.5 million couples.(1) It may lead to a reduction in quality of life as well as rising in marital conflict and sexual dysfunction. Infertility has physical, psychological, emotional, and economic impact.(2) Definition of infertility Infertility is defined by WHO as a disease characterized by the failure to establish a clinical pregnancy after 12 months of regular and unprotected sexual intercourse.(3) Psychological impact of infertility Failure to conceive children is a painful experience for people and couples all over the world. The implications of infertility are numerous and can include social repercussions and personal distress.(4) Unintentionally, doctors may disregard for the emotional reactions encountered by couples, which include anxiety, loss of control, stigmatization, and a disturbance in the adult developmental trajectory.(4) Economic impact of infertility Because many families in Low and Middle income Countries depend -in a big extent- on children for economic survival, infertility has to be described as a social and public health issue and not only as an individual medical problem.(5)
