The increasing penetration of electric vehicles (EV s) challenges existing distribution networks experiencing renewable energy integration. This paper proposes a co-simulation approach using temporal partitioning on a real-time simulator platform to verify the compliance of exchanged energy quality of an isolated 3.7 kW onboard charger (OBC) with grid requirements. The impact of the connection of the OBC on the grid is also investigated. The single-phase OBC charger includes a totem pole power factor correction (PFC) converter and a resonant LLC converter for battery charging. The validation approach consists of combining fast FPGA and slower CPU dynamics for the OBC model to overcome traditional simulation limitations, offering accurate transient response without excessive computational demands.
