Some parts of the world especially Nigeria is currently faced with anomaly power supply and global warming challenges. There is need for a step forward system that can tackle irregular power supply and reduce the greenhouse emissions in the future. This project aimed at developing a cost-effective hydroelectric power system that can generate electricity for basic needs. This involves the development of efficient, convenient, reliable, safe to operate and environmentally friendly hydroelectric power system by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The design of the hydroelectric power system was done using solid works after careful design considerations. The materials were selected based on durability and cost considerations before they were sourced from the local market. The supporting frame was fabricated from angle bar and MDF board was screwed on it. The components were assembled on the supporting frame. The developed hydroelectric power system was able generate electricity for basic use. Various test was carried out to determine its voltage, efficiency, and power. It was found that increase in load is equivalent to decrease in power output and decrease in flow corresponds to decrease in the overall efficiency of the system. This hydroelectric system is found to be cost effective, portable, and reliable due to its continuous operation.
