Design and optimization of three phase induction motor for extreme temperatures applications in oil and gas industry

Abstract

In order to ensure dependable operation, high efficiency, and a long lifespan, the design of a three-phase induction motor for applications in extreme temperatures typically found in oil and gas fields is presented in this paper. The optimized motor design takes into account thermal management, material selection, and insulation systems, the results proving its suitability for extreme temperature applications in the oil and gas industry. This work contributes to the development of dependable and efficient electric motors for harsh environments, enhancing the productivity and safety of oil and gas operations. According to the simulation results, the improved model performs better than the original motor in terms of the parameters; efficiency rises by 7.2%, torque by 24%, and current by 5.5%A and the temperature distribution reveals that, the motor can operate above temperature range of ± 40 0 of the motor standard temperature as long as the materials selection is in order.
