Design and Modeling of a Power Amplifier in the UHF Band for an RFID Reader

Abstract

This paper presents the design and development of a Power Amplifier (PA) intended for UHF RFID applications operating in the 860–960 MHz band. The main objective is to amplify the RF signal transmitted to passive RFID tags, thereby extending the communication range and improving system performance. The amplifier is designed to deliver high output power with sufficient linearity and efficiency, while maintaining a compact and cost-effective architecture suitable for integration in RFID readers. Key design considerations include impedance matching, stability, and compliance with regulatory standards such as FCC and ETSI. Simulation and prototyping phases were carried out to validate the amplifier’s gain, and output power, ensuring its suitability for real-world RFID environments.
