Water is very essential in all aspects of life, especially for consumption, hydration, and food production. This research discussed the design and construction of a solar-powered water purification system using ultraviolet rays. An ultraviolet water treatment system was designed and built to demonstrate the capability of off-the-grid water treatment. The system is specifically designed for the destruction of bacterial contaminants and to meet the needs of a family of four in third-world countries. A single l m x 1 m solar panel collected energy from sunlight and charged a 12 V battery. The stored electricity is used to power an ultraviolet bulb. The UV radiation disrupted the bacteria and other microorganisms and produced a source of potable water. The successful completion of this work provided an efficient water supply which reduced the rate of waterborne related diseases, and provided clean and cheap water for schools, homes, industries, offices, and hospitals. The results of the research showed that the pH of the purified water is 7.10 and the conductivity and resistivity are 164 μs/ and 30402 Ω
