Design and development of a SIW wideband-pass filter with cross-shape slots

Abstract

This paper presents the development and characterization of a groundbreaking substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filter designed for high-frequency applications, highlighting its Wide band frequency response. The filter is fabricated using a microstrip waveguide and integrates cross-shaped slots strategically positioned on the top layer. Its parameters are optimized through CST microwave studio simulation software, and a comparative analysis is performed between the structure of an SIW filter without slots and that with slots. The filter exhibits a wide band response, featuring a transmission bandwidth of 12.3831 GHz spanning from 6.4759 GHZ to 18.859 GHZ with a fractional bandwidth of 97.75%. Furthermore, the insertion loss across the entire bandwidth is -1.16dB while the return loss is more than -40dB [1].
