Abstract

This data is from a cross-sectional matched case control study on clinical factors associated with 175 cases of severe maternal outcomes (SMO) from two hospitals in Gauteng, South Africa. The study found a high incidence of SMO in the two hospitals. SMOs were significantly associated with obstetric haemorrhage, hypertension, not attending ANC and having few ANC visits.
